The IMC Hut is located in Glendasan valley, Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, in the
heart of the Wicklow mountains and within walking distance of the
popular climbing crag at Glendalough. It provides basic rustic self-catering
accommodation. The IMC is happy to share it with outside individuals and groups involved in mountaineering and related activities.
Facilities
Facilities include:
Three dormitory rooms. Mattresses are supplied, but visitors need to bring their own sleeping-bags.
Toilets and two hot showers.
Central heating.
Cooking and dining facilities - gas rings, kettle, fridge. All gas, utensils, crockery, cutlery, cleaning materials are supplied.
Common room with open fireplace. Fuel is not supplied, but there are tools for cutting firewood.
Booking
The Hut is not open to passers-by; you must book in advance with the warden.
The Hut can accommodate a maximum of 25 people, but space is only guaranteed for up to 20. Any IMC members who are also booked in have priority over the extra space.
Visitors are expected to contribute towards the upkeep of the hut. The minimum contribution expected is:
IMC members and members of clubs with reciprocal rights: €5.00
Others (including other MI clubs): €10.00
Bookings on an exclusive-use basis must be specifically agreed beforehand.
Getting there
The Hut is located about 3km west of Laragh village. Click here for directions and a map.
Parking is available for at least 10 cars. IMC members are always welcome to park at the Hut, assuming there is space. (Do you really want to use the official Glendalough car-park?).
Leaving
Visitors must leave the Hut in good condition, cleaning thoroughly and taking away all rubbish.
